Healthy Food shouldn't mean Yucky Food

I grew up on healthy food.  I learned to hate healthy food.  Eating healthy was synonymous with yucky food.  In fact, I remember my cousins crying when they found out they were coming to my house.  They didn't want to eat sprouts on black seedy bread...or have flax seed oil and prune juice on red river porridge.  They didn't want a supper of steamed brussel sprouts with no butter or salt, and definately didn't want all you can eat tofu lasagna.  Eating healthy was not fun. Instead of candy, my mom gave us raisins or dried apricots.  Instead of regular icecream, we got icecream made from rice, or just a cone filled with fruit.

It wasn't till I was an adult living on my own that I discovered  oh how delicious food could be.  Cooking became a passionate hobby.  I enjoyed playing with flavours and coming up with new dishes.

And over time my healthy background found its way back to me.  I have now taken an interest of my own in healthy eating.

And now a mother myself, I want to teach my daughter that healthy does not mean yucky.  Please join me in the discovery that natural healthy food can be yummy.
